The Han EV and Tang EV are BYD's flagship used export models, and they carry the highest asking prices in our current inventory for good reason — larger batteries, more interior space, and stronger factory equipment levels than the rest of the lineup. Because the purchase price is higher, buyers evaluating a used Han EV or Tang EV should apply a more thorough due-diligence checklist than they might for a smaller, lower-cost model. This guide walks through what to check specifically for these two vehicles.
1. Battery Diagnostic Report
This is the single most important document for either model. Our current Han EV is a 2022 unit with 32,800 km and 93% SoH; our current Tang EV is a 2022 unit with 39,600 km and 91% SoH. Both figures come from a diagnostic scan, not an estimate, and we recommend every buyer request this report directly rather than relying on the stated percentage alone. At this price point, a battery replacement or major repair is a significant cost, so verifying SoH before purchase is worth the extra step every time.
2. Accident History
Ask for accident and repair history covering the full ownership period, not just the most recent owner. For higher-value vehicles like the Han EV and Tang EV, even minor prior accident repairs can affect resale value and structural integrity, so request photos of the undercarriage and any panels that show signs of respray or replacement.
3. Third-Row Wear (Tang EV Specific)
The Tang EV is a three-row SUV, and its third-row seats are the area most likely to show wear inconsistent with the rest of the cabin — particularly if the vehicle was used for family transport or ride-hailing with frequent rear-seat use. Ask for close-up photos of the third-row upholstery, seatbelt condition, and folding mechanism, since this is an area that is easy to overlook in general listing photos but expensive to repair or replace after purchase.
4. Cosmetic Wear (Han EV Specific)
The Han EV is a flagship sedan, and buyers at this price point typically expect near-flawless cosmetic condition. Request detailed photos of the exterior paint, wheels, and interior trim, paying particular attention to the driver's seat bolster, steering wheel, and touchscreen — the highest-contact areas on any vehicle and the first places wear becomes visible.
5. Service Record Completeness
Both models should come with a full service history matching the stated mileage and ownership count. Gaps in service records are a reasonable basis to ask for a lower price or to request additional inspection before committing, since missing records make it harder to verify that maintenance intervals were followed correctly.
6. Charging Port and Cable Condition
With larger batteries, both models are more likely to have been fast-charged regularly by previous owners. Ask for photos of the charging port for signs of wear or damage, and confirm which charging cables and adapters are included in the sale.
Estimating Landed Cost for a Flagship Model
Total landed cost is calculated as: FOB price + $1,450 fixed freight + insurance (1.1% of FOB) + import duty (destination rate x CIF) + VAT (destination rate x (CIF + duty)) + $650 fixed clearance. Because the Han EV and Tang EV carry higher FOB prices than the rest of our used inventory, the percentage-based components of this formula — insurance, duty, and VAT — also represent a larger dollar amount, so it is worth requesting a full destination-specific estimate before finalizing a purchase at this price point.
Putting the Checklist Together
- Battery diagnostic report confirming SoH
- Full accident and repair history
- Third-row condition photos (Tang EV)
- High-contact cosmetic wear photos (Han EV)
- Complete service records matching mileage and ownership count
- Charging port and cable condition
Buyers who work through this list before committing typically avoid the most common surprises that come with higher-value used EV purchases, and it gives you a clear basis for price negotiation if any item does not match the listing description.
