The BYD e6 has built its export reputation as a fleet and ride-hailing workhorse - a spacious electric MPV bought as much for cargo and passenger volume as for range. Because so much e6 demand comes from fleet operators, the new-vs-used decision here carries one extra wrinkle that doesn't apply as strongly to passenger-car models: a large share of the used e6 supply comes out of commercial fleet and ride-hailing service, which changes how you should read the used unit's history.
The Price Gap
New BYD e6 units export in the ¥139,800–¥159,800 factory price range, with a minimum order quantity of 6 units and a typical production lead time of 30 days. A verified used e6 - for example, a 2022 unit with about 48,500 km on the odometer, 89% battery state of health, and two prior owners, sold as a well-maintained ex-fleet vehicle - generally trades well below new list price, often in the same 55-65% range we see across other models, sometimes lower depending on mileage and duty cycle.
- New: ¥139,800–¥159,800 factory price, MOQ 6, 30-day lead time, 71.7 kWh battery, 522 km CLTC range, full factory warranty from zero.
- Used (representative unit): 2022 model year, 48,500 km, 89% SoH, 2 owners, ex-fleet, well-maintained condition.
Why Fleet History Matters for This Model Specifically
A used e6 with 48,500 km and 89% SoH is a very different profile from a low-mileage private-owner unit of the same model year. Fleet and ride-hailing duty typically means more charge cycles, more daily driving hours, and more consistent (often higher) utilization than an average private car. That's not automatically a red flag - the 89% SoH figure on this representative unit indicates a reasonably normal degradation curve for its mileage, and "well maintained" ex-fleet units are often serviced on a stricter schedule than private vehicles. But it is a reason to weight the SoH report, service records, and number of owners more heavily than you would on a lower-mileage passenger model, and to ask specifically about the vehicle's prior use case before ordering.
Warranty: Full Term vs. Remaining Balance
A new e6 carries BYD's full factory warranty: 6 years / 150,000 km on the vehicle and 8 years / 150,000 km on the Blade Battery, from zero km. A used e6 carries only the remaining balance of that original term, calculated from the vehicle's first registration date and mileage - and because ex-fleet units accumulate mileage faster, a 2022 e6 with 48,500 km may have used up more of its 150,000 km allowance than a private vehicle of the same age. We confirm the exact remaining vehicle and battery coverage for each used unit from its documented history before quoting, so you know precisely what warranty term transfers with the vehicle.
Lead Time: Built-to-Order vs. Ready-to-Ship
New e6 units are built to order with a roughly 30-day production lead time before export. Used units, once inspected and documented, are typically available for faster shipment since there's no production queue. For fleet operators replacing vehicles on a rolling basis, this can matter more than the price difference.
Which Option Fits Your Order
New makes sense if you're standing up a fleet from scratch and want uniform, full-warranty vehicles with no prior-use history to underwrite. Used makes sense if you want to lower your per-unit cost for a larger fleet, or you're comfortable with the ex-fleet history given a solid SoH report and service record. Either way, for this model in particular we recommend basing your decision on the individual unit's SoH and service documentation rather than mileage or model year alone - two e6 units with identical mileage can have meaningfully different battery health depending on how they were charged and driven.
